My 10 go-to Candles

by 97495429 July 09, 2015

Lighting a deliciously scented candle is one of my favorite way to unwind. I almost always have one burning at home and tend to switch it up seasonally, or depending on how I'm feeling. If I need a mood boost, I'll burn something light, beachy or floral. If I'm looking to cozy up on the couch I'll go with a relaxing vanilla or spicy, woodsy candle. Scent is such a powerful sense and I find that really affects overall mood and helps set the tone for the day (or night – I love burning candles at parties). Over the years, I've found a few go-to scents for just about every mood, season and occasion ... a few of my favorites below!

Voluspa French Cade Lavender  | This one smells like home to me because I've been buying it for years and almost always have it burning. It's a woodsy-lavender scent (mostly woodsy) that works really well in any season.

Barr-Co. Candle | Barr-co.'s signature candle gives off a really soft, clean vanilla scent that fills a room, but isn't overwhelmingly sweet. I love it especially in colder months, but it's really nice in spring and summer too!

Illume Heirloom Pumpkin (seasonal) | This is my favorite seasonal fall scent (#allpumpkineverything), that I usually buy once a year. It smells kind of like you're baking a fresh pumpkin pie, but is more spicy than sweet (like a lot of pumpkin candles out there), which I love.

Capri Blue Volcano | The Volcano candle is the first fruit scented candle I've ever liked for more than a day. It has a smooth, sophisticated tropical fruity smell to it, and I like it for mid-summer as well as colder months.(Tip: this is the one that you immediately smell walking into Anthropologie!)

Rewined Rosé | This candle comes in the coolest jar – a repurposed bottom of a wine bottle – and smells like a crisp glass of rosé (with notes of peach and pepper). It's the perfect summer candle.

Dipytique Feu de Bois | If you don't have a fireplace but love the smell, this is your candle! It smells exactly like a wood-burning fireplace, making it a favorite cozy scent for fall and winter.

Illume Balsam & Cedar (seasonal) | This candle smells exactly like fresh-cut Christmas trees. It's got the perfect warm combination of pine, fir and balsam wood and fills the room nicely.

Voluspa Crisp Champagne | Crisp champagne is a nice, light scent that is great year-round, especially for parties. It smells like champagne, with a sweet oak-y undertone.

Illume Mediterranean | I usually pick up one of these mid-winter when I'm feeling the cold weather blues or mid-summer when I'm itching to get to the beach. It smells like a gorgeous day at the beach: saltwater, fresh air, and coconut with a touch of vetiver.

Archipelago Peony | I love this candle. It's bright and floral with the perfect fresh and sunny peony scent.
