Your Philadelphia Holiday Bucket List

by The Atelier December 04, 2015

Who doesn’t love being a tourist in their own city? No need to travel to the Rockefeller Center this year, we’ve got you covered with six must-see spots in Philly.

^ Christmas Village at Love Park

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest**

This winterized version of Spruce Street Harbor Park, located right off of the Delaware River, is equipped with an ice skating rink, twinkling lights, fire pits, and plenty of cozy seating.  With sips and snacks from Garces Group and Franklin Fountain, it's perfect for a double date or girls' night out! (Pay as you go)

Macy's Christmas Light Show*

The Macy’s light show, around since 1956, is a true classic. The show runs every 2 hours in the heart of Macy's Wanamaker Building, and features 100,000 LED lights, a narration by Julie Andrews and music from the Wanamaker Organ. Be sure to take a break from your holiday shopping to experience this Philadelphia tradition. (Free Admission)

Christmas Village at Love Park**

Christmas Village is the perfect place to walk around on a chilly December night with a hot chocolate in hand. The open air market is filled with unique gifts from small vendors including ornaments, handmade jewelry, music boxes and more. (Pay as you go)

The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park

Grab your skates (or rent them for $9) and bundle up – this is bound to be a new Philly favorite. Located a few steps away from Christmas Village at City Hall, this ice skating rink offers the perfect  view of the skyline, making it the perfect addition to your holiday bucket list. (Tickets available for purchase)

The Nutcracker Ballet at The Academy of Music

If you see one show this season, make it this. The Pennsylvania Ballet puts on a stunning rendition of the Balanchine classic. Everything from the set, to the costumes, to the dancers' performances is nothing short of sheer holiday perfection. (Tickets available for purchase)

Franklin Square Holiday Festival & Light Show**

The full experience at Franklin Square: a ride on the holiday train, a cup of mulled wine from Ben’s Bites & Brews, and a mesmerizing holiday light show that runs every 30 minutes between 4:30 and 8 PM. (Pay as you go)

P.S. If you are able to make it out to the 'burbs, make sure you head to Longwood Gardens & Terrain!
